Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership
Every Local Authority area has an Independent Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). LSCB’s are responsible for ensuring agencies work together to safeguard children and for testing how effectively this happens. The Cumbria LSCB became The Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP) on the 29 September 2019.
CSCP has fulfilled this role for our local area and has supported local safeguarding arrangements by delivering training, auditing, publishing learning, publishing procedures, undertaking reviews etc. Most of this activity can be seen on their website.

Better Health and Best Care for the people of North Cumbria, delivered sustainably.
We are here to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Firstly this is about making a difference by improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and their families. In particular it is about taking serious action to reduce the inequalities in health that exist between different communities across North Cumbria.
We want to add years to peoples’ lives, and quality life to these extra years.
Making a difference to people’s lives also includes improving the day to day experience of patients and those working to deliver better healthcare. Working for the health service in North Cumbria should be a privilege and a source of pride. We want this to be true for all our colleagues, as we recognise that quite simply people who are happy in their jobs provide better care.
To achieve our vision we are committed to:
- Delivering standards of care as enjoyed by most of England.
- Returning the local NHS system to a sustainable financial balance.
- Embedding continuous service improvement methods across the system, empowering front line clinicians and practitioners.
- Working flexibly to enable changing, where necessary, which organisation delivers services, where is delivered and how it is paid for.
- Putting ahead of each organisation’s interests and professional interests patients and the health system interests first.

Women’s Community Matters
Women’s Community Matters philosophy is simple.
“With love, care, compassion and kindness we believe together we can change the world”.
We want to make a positive difference to the lives of women, young girls aged 13 and above and young boys aged 13-17 in the Barrow area. We want to help in all ways we can, creating a strong resource for women and young people in crisis and those who are vulnerable and at risk.
We strive to create an atmosphere of empowerment and self-development, removing obstacles and dealing with issues together. The people who benefit from the centre can then play a key role in shaping Women’s Community Matters future and participating in its operation as volunteers, trustees and members.
The core team of Women’s Community Matters are central to its funding, operation and development. We live and breathe the philosophy that the most important thing is how services are delivered: with love, care, compassion and kindness and this is our vocation. We are real women and men, who understand the pressures, the challenges and the successes that women and young people face on a daily basis.
