SUSTAINABILITY – DOING YOUR BIT

Have You Already Completed a Sustainability Task for Yourself or Your Organisation?

Please Complete our Form and Let Us Know What You Did.

Everyone has heard the word ‘Sustainability’, but do you know what it means?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, sustainability is

  • avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance.
“the pursuit of global environmental sustainability”

Sustainability is a broad term, however, in its simplest form, its focus is on creating a resilient environment that allows for long-term positive impact to thrive.

As the world’s population increases, it’s becoming more and more unsustainable to maintain the status quo without severly impacting on the environment with greater negative impact.

With this in mind, we at B-Skill would like you to look at what you do now and how you can make a positive impact in creating a more sustainable environment.

Take a look at the graphic on the right and take a few notes about your thoughts and ideas about the questions posed.  If you’re unsure about some of these, do some research – particularly focusing on you and your local environment.

We’re interested to know your understanding of what sustainability is and how you can impact positively moving forward.

Once you’ve jotted down some notes, watch the video below.  Please feel free to research further and look at other videos/webpages that specifically focus on this topic.

What To Do Now…

So you’ve read the notes above, looked at the poster and watched the video (and possibly researched further).  Now, what we’d like to know is:

what can you do to help in the planet’s sustainability?

or actually, you may have already done something quite recently that would fit under the ‘Sustainability’ banner.

Whatever it is, we want to hear about it and share your ideas across our B-Skill network.

Let Us Know What You’ve Done – Or What You’re Going To Do…

This could be a small project that you are doing (or have done) by yourself.  Alternatively, if you’re working, do you have ideas and thoughts about how to make your workplace a more environmentally friendly and sustainable organisation.

Your idea doesn’t need to be a huge project, just something small to start with that could start the ball rolling with your friends, family and colleagues.  The possibilities are endless.

Some Ideas – Big & Small…

Pledge to use only reusable plastic bottles in the classroom or your place of work. Not only will this save you money, but it will also create less waste and environmental impact.

Don’t throw chemicals into waterways.  Educate others about the harms this can do.

Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home, classroom, or workplace. Use biodegradable chemicals for daily needs.

Work with your employer in identifying green practises that will not only help the planet, but may also reduce costs across the organisation.

These are just a few ideas, have a chat with friends, family & colleagues to see what others ideas are available.

Completing Our Microsoft Forms…

Once you’ve given some consideration to your idea, carry out some further research (or if employed, talked to your employer if required), please continue to complete our short questionnaire.

Please click this link and complete our short form telling us about your idea (or what you may have actually done already quite recently).  We read all submissions and would love to hear how you’re making a difference.

Thank you for your efforts, we really appreciate it.  Your coach will be following this up with you in your next meeting with them.
